The web site has been down for a while but the software can be found
with a google search.
Works well, easy to install and set up on a Windows xp system.
I had difficulties installing on a Windows Vista system and eventually
gave up.
Simple
DNS Plus
Works well, very easy to install and set up under Windows Vista.
The only problem is it's a 14 day trial and then you need to pay.
Acrylic DNS Proxy
Not
a DNS resolver but worth trying for it's caching feature. Unlike
windows DNS cache the contents are not lost during a re-boot.
Acrylic also has it's own "hosts" file which I believe is capable of
holding a
much larger file than windows "hosts" without impacting on performance.
I've tested this by copying the MVPS
hosts blocking file in to Acrylic's hosts file with no detectable loss
of performance in windows or DNS resolving.
I
believe, however, I could detect a small delay when off site content
was requested from a blocked site. This was fixed by installing eDexter,
a small HTTP server which fools the browser in to believing it's
received content from the blocked site. eDexter is designed for use
with a windows hosts blocking file but works equally well with
Acrylic's hosts blocking file.
Acrylic simultaneously query's up to
three DNS resolvers and provides the result from the first to respond.
This gives a performance edge over other systems that only query a
second resolver after the first fails to give an answer.

Bind9
Works well under Windows Vista but not easy to get working without some
prior knowledge.
This
is how I installed and set up Bind9 to act as a simple DNS
caching
resolver on my Vista system. I don't claim this is the best setup but
it works for me.
Install Bind9 for Windows
Bind is the ultimate DNS resolver but can be a little heavy on system
resources.
Unbound
Works well and probably easier to install than Bind.

Install Unbound for Windows
Unbind does all you need from a DNS resolver. It's also very light on
system resources making it a good choice for a single PC.
